I’m an MSc candidate at the University of Windsor in Ontario, Canada, using my home county of Essex as a study system for bird migration. I study how nocturnal flight calls can be used as a proxy for population trends when analyzed longitudinally, and how sites of congregation along migratory flyways may contribute to the spread of avian influenza through environmental transmission in surface water.
Outside of school, I’m an avid birder and naturalist. I spend much of my time at the Tip of Point Pelee National Park, watching the sand, lake, sky, and trees for migrating birds. I travel pretty well whenever I can, having been fortunate to visit 12 countries so far.
